What's Up With Gargoyles?
I have a friend who likes gargoyles. (You know who you are.) Huh?
Aren't gargoyles those intimidating figures you see on Notre Dame and so many other cathedrals built in the middle ages? I've always imagined mothers taking their naughty children on a walk past gargoyles, pointing up to one and saying, "If you don't start behaving yourself that gargoyle is going to come down here and eat you!"
To clarify what they are I looked up the definition. Courtesy of dictionary.com here they are:
"A grotesquely carved figure of a man or an animal."
"A spout, terminating in a grotesque representation of a human or animal figure with open mouth, projecting from the gutter of a building for throwing rainwater clear of a building."
No need to look up what grotesque means.
But you can like gargoyles if you want to. They certainly stimulate the imagination. And you can have fun with them.

DeleteI always liked gargoyles and then one of my fans kept writing in asking me for a book with gargoyles. I included one here and there, but she said, "Great, but how about a main character who is a gargoyle?" I finally gave in and wrote Fairy Bite. :) Love the video!
