Book Recommendation
None to Give Away by Elsie
Doig Townsend
Many of my recommendations
may be books you haven’t heard of before. They have been little gems for me,
and precious jewels are often found tucked away in unexpected places, as this
one was.
None to Give Away is Elsie Doig Townsend’s memoir. She writes about facing life as a young widow with five small children in the harsh Montana environment when her husband is seriously injured on their ranch and doesn’t survive. The year is 1940. Kind friends and family offer to raise some of the little ones and ease her burden. But how can she part with any of her babies, when she’s already lost her beloved husband?
This book is on my list of books to read -- someday. At $1.99 plus shipping from Amazon it's a great deal... I just checked it's in my library. I <3 my library.
ReplyDeleteYes, I was also pleased to see the reasonable price for buying this book. It is well worth
ReplyDeletea couple of $$.
I was disappointed in the cover that came up with this link, however. My copy has a photo
of a depiction by artist Gary Ernest Smith entitled Rural Home with Mother and Child, a
lovely piece very appropriate for the story inside.
