This is Marina Chapman's astounding story of spending several years of her life being raised deep in the Columbian rainforest by monkeys. At about the age of 4 she was kidnapped from a remote village, then abandoned in a chase. If not for this species of amazing monkeys she would have perished. Skeptical? Read the book for yourself. It isn't an immediate triumph of rescue and a new life. At first, when after perhaps six years she is finally taken to be her own kind, it is to a life of subjugation, humiliation, then the streets. The monkeys were kinder.
Decades later, now living in Britain in an entirely new and wonderfully fulfilling life, Marina is persuaded by her daughter to tell her story.
It is a one of a kind book, one I'll never forget.
Patricia Moye's Inspector Henry Tibbets mysteries are lost gems just beginning to be re-discovered. Only a few months ago you couldn't even find most of these in e-book format. I stumbled across this series in some paperbooks donated to a used bookstore.
The first is a great introduction to Inspector Tibbets and his loyal wife as they anticipate a wonderful skiing holiday. I loved the plot and the character development.
Any one who enjoys a more old-fashioned British police procedural/whodunit and hasn't found this author, here's a treat for you.
They are currently all full price in all formats, so watch for bargains or check your own local used bookstores or library.
