It is unusual for me to recommend books I haven't read myself, but that is true in this case.
I'm doing that because the recommendation comes from one of you who come here, an avid reader and a reliable source. Also, these novels are getting excellent reviews.
I am also cautious about what authors to mention that write inspirational fiction. They have to be good enough to cross over into the category of historical or mystery fiction and appeal to a broader base of readers.
Four that have given me a lot of hours of enjoyment due to depth of characterization, good plots, and great writing style, are Brock and Bodie Thoene, Francine Rivers, Stephen Lawhead, and Mel Starr. All of their names have come up on Upbeat Book Talk before.
If you go to Amazon and take a look, you will see these stories are based on the factual accounts of Britain's equivalent of America's orphan trains. Both happenings occurred from the mid to late nineteenth century into the early decades of the twentieth century, and for essentially the same purpose. Britain's transportation of orphaned or street children to Canada was intended to offer them a future, just as the relocation of America's urban orphans living on the streets to rural America had the same goal.
As any of us can guess, sometimes that happened and other times it went horribly wrong.
So lovers of historical fiction, here is a reading consideration for you.
How exciting! Thank you. 😊
